We're pleased to announce PLP version 4.0 software that provides PLP owners with more features and functionality than ever before. In the past it's been GCC’s policy to post all updated software on bulletin board services GEnie. However there are many reasons we are unable to post this particular version of software on bulletin board services.
1. Version 4.0 is not just a maintenance upgrade. It adds substantial new product capabilities such as background printing, ATM, Type 1 fonts as the font format, as well as a limited sharing capability that is unheard of with any other QuickDraw laser printer.
2. Because of the significant enhancements, it is highly recommended that customers receive all of the appropriate documentation to fully support the 4.0 software. In addition to a new font format, version 4.0 also contains a new PrintManager, new print driver, and new to the software, the GCC Printing Extension. These improvements require that all of the components of the PLP software are version 4.0 and therefore will not work with previous releases.
3. In an effort to maintain the integrity of ATM and the Type 1 fonts that come with version 4.0, GCC is contractually obligated to charge for the new software.
